- Two massive explosions rocked the Syrian capital of Damascus earlier today. The attacks were held against a ministry building, and the Free Syrian Army, the main rebel group, has claimed responsibility (CNN):

- Missouri senatorial candidate Todd Akin has vowed to stay in the race after his controversial comments about "legitimate rape" (CBS News):

- Libyan president Mohamed Magarief claims the recent attacks that killed US ambassador Chris Stevens had nothing to do with the anti-Muslim film the "Innocence of Muslims (NBC News):
