Fox News Debate: December 15th, 2011 from Sioux City Iowa

This is the final republican debate before the primary election. Thoughts?

Pre-debate:

Are you going to watch the debate?

- Who is in the best position going in?
- Who will have the worst night?
- Will anyone drop out after this debate?
- Who will win?
- Other thoughts...

Post-debate:

Did you watch the debate?

- Who won the Fox News debate?
- Who is going to drop out?
- Who will climb in the polls? Who will fall?
- Who will win the Iowa GOP primary?
- Who do you think will win the GOP nomination?
- Who can win versus Obama?
- Other thoughts...

Fun stuff:

- Biggest gaffe?
- Nastiest attack?
- Biggest lie?
- Etc. Etc. Etc.

All thoughts are welcomed.

Thank you!

  1. Newt will gain a foothold with his positive campaign style. He will show it during the debate and make he separates himself from the attack dog GOP field. He will win.

No one will drop out. After the primary, Santorum and Bachmann will.

Biggest Gaffe? Anything Ron Paul chooses to ramble about.

Will check back after the debate.

  2. Paul wins. (and no, dan johnston, he doesn't ramble)... If you aren't intelligent enough to understand what he says, maybe you just shouldn't vote.

Due your due diligence research folks, his record no where near resembles his rhetoric or media spin...

    Tax Hikes?
Doubling & Tripling the "National Debt" under different Presidents; (Ronald Reagan & Bill Clinton) while claiming a so-called balanced annual budget Under Reagan and a surplus under Clinton?
AND he is still bragging about that b.s. ...

This is just a taste of the ACTUAL RECORD of Newt Gingrich...

Notwithstanding, we heard from his own lips during the latest CNN debate & again on the Huckbee debate and others; his continued support to allow 10's of millions of illegal aliens (And the UNIONS that hire them under the table) to steal jobs, healthcare, social security, welfare, food stamps, medicare, medicaid, education, housing and hopes and dreams of a better future from law-abiding u.s. citizens languishing in unemployment, underemployment and homelessness...

Additionally, his willingness to sacrifice fundamental liberty protected by the Constitution and the Bill of Rights; and continue being the worlds police, big brother and welfare...

With Herman Cain's recent hari kari... IMHO we now currently have 2 choices that are not the Status Quo Establishment Republican Rinos that have joined the Status Quo Establishment Democrats in trampling the Constitutional Republic we were founded as...

  7. I don't know but I know Newt is like Reagan in that he is clever at deflecting unfair allegations and brushes off such nonsense. He is positive and has the ability to win favor with different cultures. I think the other candidates are ruining their own campaigns just for being "Too" right wing. The fact remains the same, not all of America is righ wing so naturally Newt knows this and has to appeal to many different sides. I have no worries that he will humiliate he other candidates like he will to Obama. :)

  8. Wow... thanks for the response so far.

First, Dan Johnston, bold prediction on Santorum and Bachmann. Is one low showing in a primary all it takes?

To the anonymous poster that left all the links... I'm not being facetious, but what is a Rino.., and what is a Gekko?

To MarcusMars - I do tend to agree that Newt can be balanced (look at immigration) and hopefully, if he does win the nomination, that centrist appeal grabs some of the independent vote. I do also agree, he would absolutely destroy Obama in a debate. Love or hate Newt, I'm very impressed with is knowledge of history and how he backs (of course I would love that, if you read this blog you read how we are always clamoring for proof) pretty much everything he says with historic example.

Thank you again. If you like our blog, please put it on Facebook, Twitter, or tell a friend. Word of mouth is a great way to beat the mainstream media. We need to make sure the media doesn't control the nomination.

  9. Ron Paul is a crusty old man. His views are pure lunacy. Rick Perry is the only candidate that would turn this country back to its christian roots. That's what we need!

I predict Perry climbs up and does very well in this debate. The spotlight has been off him because it has been stuck on Romney, Gingrich (and somewhat) on Paul. Perry takes it and wins Iowa. God, I really hope so.

  10. - Who is in the best position going in? Newt
    - Who will have the worst night? Perry, as always...
    - Will anyone drop out after this debate? Hopefully Santorum and Baccman, but especially Perry.
    - Who will win? Newt. As always.
    - Other thoughts... Ron Paul, does HE really think he can win the Presidency?

    ReplyDelete
  11. Paul does not ramble...he is the only one that is able to say what he needs to say even if only given 89 seconds and his point is still clear...Rick Perry has been nibbling off the Paul cookie too with the whole cutting depts shrinking govt and he pwnd mitt in the last debate pretty good...but this country is never going to go back to christian roots and ppl need to separate religion from their politics least one group have sway over the others...mitt will stutter his way through some talking point answers but no real stances...newt will be newt...ppl will love him even though he wants to extend war/rewrite our constitution and i personally cant trust a man who leaves his wife for a mistress on her cancer recovery bed...In short, Ron Paul will again get the most cheers, dictate the direction of the debate and make clear articulate arguements, winning in everyones eyes except the MSM and newt fans who are for the status quo and bigger govt

  12. STOPITRONPAULTROLLS, Chris, and Anonymous. Thank you for the comment contribution. It's great to see civil debate.

STOPITRONPAULTROLLS - I would say I respectfully disagree and hope that Perry does not take our country down any religious path. As I have stated before, I do not follow or endorse any one candidate, but I do agree with Ron Paul’s and others’ views that believe in a separation of church and state. Just my belief and personal opinion.
Chris – Thank you for the opinions. I tend to agree. I have a view that is similar to your views as well as Dan Johnston’s at the beginning of the thread. I do like some of Paul’s views, and I don’t think he will back out, but I’m worried he couldn’t beat Obama (it’s nothing against him personally, but I actually don’t think, unfortunately, that as many Americans are Constitutionalists like he is)… I do like hearing Newt debate though. If he gets the nomination, this is good practice. I hope you give a post-debate write-up.
Anoynmous – I actually do agree with you that Paul doesn’t get a fair shake in the media or the debates. Because of the shortness of time, I can see why some (I don’t necessarily agree with them) think he rambles. It’s hard to get out some points (albeit most are good and constitutionally relevant) when you don’t get much time. It’s also sad that someone who is near the top of the polls has never been in the center. That being said, yes, his fans are very passionate. I respectfully disagree that Newt’s infidelity should be brought forth. I think freedom lovers like Paul’s supporters should respect Newt’s privacy. He didn’t violate his oath while in office, and what he does in his bedroom, no matter how bad it might seem, is his business. Just my opinion though. I hope to hear back from you.

Thanks to all, and I really hope we get more comments. Tell a friend, and I hope to see what everyone has to say post debate. Take care!

  13. Everyone will pile on Newt,
    Newt will pile on Mitt,
    Perry will sh*t on self,
    Bachman will pile on Obama,
Paul will sing to his choir, and
Huntsman will emerge presidential and unscathed.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Anonymous - Thank you for your comment.

So, I gotta admit, this is pretty funny, and, in all honesty, I think pretty close to the truth.

Everyone will pile on Newt... yup!
Newt will pile on Mitt... sure, but he will be "positive."
Perry will sh*t on self... yup!
Bachmann will pile on Obama... You know, it seems like during every single debate this is all she does. It seems I turn to my wife every debate and say, "you know, she really doesn't have a strategy or policy for anything... her #1 policy is bash Obama." So yup! I think you're dead on.
Paul will sing to his choir... yup! Though I will admit, he does have the most vocal choir, and they tend to sing back.
Huntsman will emerge presidential and unscathed... You know, just like with Bachmann, this is one where I turn to my wife every debate and say, "you know, Huntsman is 1, very intelligent and 2, a great speaker... I wish he would get some better footing." So... kinda yup. He might emerge both presidential and unscathed, but either way, I don't think he will get the nomination.

    Also, what about Santorum? :-P

Thank you again! Great post, and I hope all the visitors got as much out of it as I did. I really hope to hear back from you for a post-debate analysis. And, if you like our blog, please tell at least one person. Word of mouth is the best way to spread the word and get around the mainstream media.

  15. Anyone who takes Rick Perry seriously needs a bib when they eat.

Him and Herman Cain made a mockery of the GOP and any self respecting Republican should denounce these clowns and separate them from the public image as much as possible.

We already had a buffoon for 8 years and his nonsense gave us a lot of un easy voters switching to "Hope and Change"

And who can blame them? We don't need idiots representing us and it's an embarrassing thing to watch.

A lot of people don't like Ron Paul because of his high pitch voice, ore the fact that he refuses to kiss the ass of Israel or the fact that he wants to stop the war machine that is lobbied and funded by the corporations profiting on our dead soldiers policing the world.

I support our troops, but not the corrupt ass holes that purposely put them in harms way to make a buck.

But as much as I like Ron Paul,it comes down to the strongest man to beat Obama and that man is Newt Gingrich.

It's sad too because both of these men are very intelligent and have valuable arguments however the best spoken man wins.

I would be happy with either.

Mitt is a total joke. He will be attacking all night.

And Michele Bachmann with her "Newt Romney" crap won't attract any more support.

Cooler Heads prevail. And Unless Newt has a stroke on stage, he WILL be the next president.

    -Snake Plissken

    ReplyDelete
  16. Snake - Thanks for posting! Good to have your opinion about the debate.

I will get right to the meat of it. I do like Newt. Me (and the other contributors of this blog, there are 3 of us) haven't picked a candidate yet. If Newt was picked, I would be happy. Then again, if any of the candidates were picked, I'd be happy. Obama has taken this country to a dangerous place and it my opinion, we need a conservative to get us back to a safer place. As far as Ron Paul, I like him, but not entirely. Unfortunately, I don't think he can beat Obama. I'm worried no one can... and it's not because they are good candidates, it's because the media will make it this way.

I hope you're able to contribute with a post-debate analysis. Thank you!

Ron Paul may be correct on a few issues, but otherwise he belongs in a white padded room wearing Depends and a wraparound jacket. As loony as Daffy Duck but without his charm.
Ayn Rand popularized the idea of commerce/enterprise free from government (and what she considered leeches aka the poor). This economic theory is known as anarcho-capitalism or laissez-faire.

Ron Paul advocates unregulated free market enterprise, aka anarcho-capitalism. Economy free from the constraint of government regulation.
So Ron Paul's economic theories equal Ayn Rand economic policies. Hence Randian.

Ayn Rand, serial killer worshipping sociopath that she was appealed to the principle of self interest that is a very common failing in mankind.
Hence her ideas are bunk. Therefore if Ayn Rand's economic ideas are bunk and Ron Paul bases his economic policies on Ayn Rands bunk ideas then Ron Pauls economic policies are bunk.

Ron Paul on Ayn Rand: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v...

Because I like to show my work here is some more, from the man himself.
    http://c3244172.r72.cf0.rackcd...

Everything from that reeks of Ayn Rand.
I know his supporters can be rabid in defense. Other than his adherence to a failed economic outlook (the free market does not work, it always results in an oligarchy unless greed is constrained via regulations that are enforced) I would consider him seriously for my vote.

But anyone who says Ayn Rand inspires them, especially towards constructing their own policies, can't be taken seriously no matter how right they might be on so much else.

    Eighty-four ethics charges were filed
against Speaker Gingrich, including claiming tax-exempt status for a college
course run for political purposes. Following an investigation by the House
Ethics Committee Gingrich was sanctioned US$300,000 on a 395-28 House vote.
Gingrich acknowledged in January 1997 that "In my name and over my
signature, inaccurate, incomplete and unreliable statements were given to the
committee". The House Ethics Committee concluded that inaccurate
information supplied to investigators represented "intentional or ...
reckless" disregard of House rules. Special Counsel James M. Cole
concluded that Gingrich violated federal tax law and had lied to the ethics committee.

  67. Well, good morning to all. Thank you for your posts. The traffic here is awesome. It's great to see people taking to the blogosphere!

I'm not going to address each individual comment. I'm glad that people are responding to each other. We merely create the discussion topics at our blog. Our goal is to start the topic and interject opinions here and there. For the blogosphere to be effective, people need to share ideas about each other, and that is being done. Thank you for that.

Really quick, we aren't big on the name calling and threats. We try to promote a civil blog and we feel that those kind of things not only offer no help, but they are unnecessary. We don't delete any comments here. We would just hope that if you disagree with someone, you maintain respect, and hopefully rise up over them using cited facts to make stronger opinions.

The one I will address is the comment that said "the blogger likes Newt." As I and the blog has said from the beginning, "we don't endorse any one candidate; all would be better than Barack Obama." Yes, I do like Newt. I like Newt personally because he is a man that backs what he says. In each debate, he makes a statement, and he gives a historic reference, a report, a study, etc. I respect that, and I think it would help him win a debate versus the teleprompter-in-chief. Anyone that reads our blog would notice we are just plain tired of people who express opinions but can't back them with proof. From the beginning (see our article calling out OWS for continually making the claim "banks rob people" without backing it) we have stated we hold fact-backed opinions in high regard no matter who said it. I believe, and it's just my opinion, that Newt is very good at this. There is no candidate that is off the table in my book, and there is none that we yet endorse.

Thank you all for your comments. This truly is great! We can beat the mainstream media by sharing information on the blogosphere. Hope to see you all back!

  68. When the smoke clears and it is all said and done President Romney will be inaugurated in 2012. Why?
    1. Most Presidential
    2. Backs what he says and admits his downfalls
    3. Has the $$ (staying power)
    4. Has enough character not to go on personal attacks unless he is attacked first.
    5. Obama fears him the most .........with reason.

Special note: FYI, Romney has explained his Romneycare about what he did and why and admitted to the mistake in MA. All politicians so call "flip-flop" in their careers but he will back up what he is saying for this Presidential race. Newt has too much baggage which will be revealed, he comments last night have already been fact checked to be untrue. His is a good History teacher, let's leave it at that. The rest have highlights, strong points but do not have the staying power. It will be President Romney.

  69. Anonymous - thank you for your post. I think you make good points. I do agree with your counter to the "flip-flop" claim.

My only question, and again, we do not endorse him, but a lot of people on here are for Paul. I can see why, but I can see why not, too. What is your take? Is he a threat.

We hope to hear back from you. Take care!
