Open Chat... All Day, Every Day! Express Your Views, Debate, and Challenge the Views of Others!

In order to keep up with the nature of free, spirited debate, I wanted to place the chat feature at the top of the homepage. This ensures people can come here and share their views on anything they wish and not have it be related to any specific discussion. Here, people can share ideas, links, and views "unmoderated" and an their own pace. To me, this makes The Elephant in the Room blog truly a place for debate.

  1. in the Fox article on gun control and Cuomo it says, "We haven't saved any lives tonight, except one: the political life of a governor who wants to be president," said Ball who represents part of the Hudson Valley. "We have taken an entire category of firearms that are currently legal that are in the homes of law-abiding, tax paying citizens. ... We are now turning those law-abiding citizens into criminals." - This couldn't be any more correct. I found this ABC news article: http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/OTUS/york-maryland-governors-hot-gun-control-political-risk/story?id=18212983

And it starts with, "New York's Andrew Cuomo and Maryland's Martin O'Malley -- not only want to enact legislation that would make their respective states the toughest in the country, they are both widely believed to have presidential aspirations and could face each other in 2016 or a future Democratic primary."

    BINGO!

On top of that, the Fox article says, "Ammunition magazines would be restricted to seven bullets, from the current 10, and current owners of higher-capacity magazines would have a year to sell them out of state. An owner caught at home with eight or more bullets in a magazine could face a misdemeanor charge."

IN THEIR HOME??????? How is this even enforced? BIG BROTHER IS COMING!

'IN THEIR HOME??????? How is this even enforced?'

The 'authorities' would 'become aware' of the (now illegal) magazine one had 'at home' - when a homeowner used such a magazine - IN SELF DEFENSE AGAINST one or MORE intruders in their home.

The outrage from the Bloombots/Cuomocommies will then transfer FROM the bad guy(s), who ILLEGALLY entered the home owners residence - with INTENT to do them harm... TO the e-e-vil (and now deemed criminal) homeowner - whose INTENT is to PROTECT HIS FAMILY and/or property.

HE - the homeowner - will be held up as 'an example' and punished to the 'fullest extent of the law' to DETER other like-minded individuals to from possession of such magazines.

Note: I'd be willing to BET the security teams that shadow Bloomy, Cuomo and O'Malley EVERYWHERE carry magazines that hold MORE than seven rounds...

Personally, I'd NEVER live in the cesspool that NY has become - but if I did - I'd rather be JUDGED by twelve - than CARRIED by six.

Wait! Bloomy??? O'Malley???? President???! Has America LOST her ever-lovin' MIND???!

      ...silly question - never mind.

  2. "This is going to put people in jail and keep people in jail who shouldn't be out on the street in the first place."

People like William Spengler? You know, the nut that shot the firemen in NY. So will this new legislation keep murderers in prison longer than 17 years? Is beating your 92 year old grandmother to death with a hammer somehow a less heinous of a crime because at least he didn't use a gun? Why was he back on the street?

Will people be issued a star of David when they are entered in the registry? How long before that list is published?

    1. Spengler was a convicted felon who wasn't legally permitted to own firearms. Those laws stopped him, they sure did. For all the liberals out there who want to "feel" good by passing more laws, just ask, "did a BAN on assault weapons and handguns stop William Spengler?"

No, never. And they won't stop anyone else who is hell bent on causing damage. All more laws do is stop good people from protecting themselves.
