- Violence erupts in Moscow as Vladimir Putin is elected to serve another term as Russia's president (Fox News):

- Socialist candidate Francois Hollande defeated Nicholas Sarkozy to win France's presidency (ABC News):

- Top Al Qaeda figure, Fahd al-Quso was killed by a U.S. drone strike in Yemen. He was believed to have key roll in the U.S. Cole bombing in 2000 (CBS News):
