Weekly News Headline and Debate Topic Forum - 3/4/13

Well, congratulations! You survived the Sequester. Yippie!

Unfortunately for me, I haven't been around, and I even missed the Gang of 405 radio show on Saturday. I regret that because there was a TON to talk about.

But that's okay; I'm sure there is a lot to talk about this week. The Sequester fight has come and gone, but the effects haven't really kicked in. On top of that, we have the issue with Bob Woodward, and the continued press headlining of this mythical "shift" in republicans now accepting Obamacare. As always, this forum is open for any and all discussions.

      Good morning Dara. It seems as if our government is preparing for war against us. Between the 1.6 BILLION rounds of ammo, the 2700 armored tanks, and Holder & 0bama's desire to bring drone strikes to America.

      Perhaps the Democrats are realizing that the 5th Amendment is just as old and antiquated as the 2nd Amendment (both ratified way back in 1791-- by old white men at that). Who needs all those costly trials and lawyers?

      I read one article yesterday (and can't find it today) where Holder said he didn't believe Congress could ban the President from doing so. Doesn't the Fifth Amendment ban POTUS (any POTUS not just 0bama) from being judge, jury, and executioner?

      Kudos to Rand Paul for standing up to the administration yesterday on this matter. The one extremely sad thing is that Paul had to go it alone most of the day. Seems like to me there should have been 100 Senators up there saying HELL NO to that too. Not just Paul and a hand full of others.

      Hi Slim. I saw Rand Paul on Greta and he said 'some' Dems congratulated him after the filibuster and said they supported what he was doing. Really? How nice of them.

      IF they truly supported him (and We the People) where WERE they? I thought they had ALL sworn an oath to uphold and defend the Constitution!

      I'm not at all sure I believe that snarky note that Holder sent Paul, either.

    Bike riders targeted by the greenie 'taxers and spenders'... and the hits just keep on comin'!

    Representative Ed Orcutt made this statement in an e-mail exchange with a constituent who opposes the bike tax:

    “Also, you claim that it is environmentally friendly to ride a bike. But if I am not mistaken, a cyclist has an increased heart rate and respiration. That means that the act of riding a bike results in greater emissions of carbon dioxide from the rider. Since CO2 is deemed to be a greenhouse gas and a pollutant, bicyclists are actually polluting when they ride.”

      It's nobody's business.

      It also said she increased the revenue for her company (AND shareholders - by default) by 46%!

      The article also bashed her for canceling the 'work from home' program - which was, according to earlier reports - being abused by some employees and costing Yahoo money AND business because the employees weren't really 'at work' to answer customer's calls...

      All Around...Good for her!
