January 17, 2013 - Morning Headlines

- As Obama signed 23 executive orders meant to be steps to curb gun violence, there is little chance any substantial laws will pass the House of Representatives (CNN): http://www.cnn.com/2013/01/16/politics/guns-congress/index.html?hpt=hp_t1

- US officials have said that between 15 and 40 hostages, including some Americans, have been captured by  an Islamic militant on joint venture BP natural gas field.
